一年一度的毕业季伴随着春季求职高峰期又到来了。对于每一位new graduate来说，如何在激烈的竞争中脱颖而出获得全职或实习工作机会，是开始职业生涯的关键一步。2018年4月19日，由BRC求职倾情赞助，旅美科协圣地亚哥分会（CAST-SD） 与UCSD-CSSA, UCSD-CSA, USD-CSSA, SDSU-CSSA共同推出职业发展交流活动学生专场。
活动特别邀请到了CoolPad Group资深管理人Clark Chen先生，Argen Corporation有25年HR丰富经验的Connie Wedel女士，及Hu Bei Dinglong Co. Ltd杰出的商业发展副董事长Lucy Z.Liu女士。他们基于中美两地的求职情况、针对中国学生的优势与短板、并依据自己独特的职业经历，深入浅出、由点及面，为来自UCSD、USD、SDSU的应届毕业生以及同时在线参与的100余位网友提供全方位、多视角、有独到性及针对性的指导与建议。
活动由Lily Zhou女士主持，分为嘉宾访谈和互动问答两个环节。在访谈板块，Clark先生首先分享了他前往哥伦比亚锻炼性格的独特经历，并分析忠于个性特点、从事喜欢的职业的重要性。Connie 女士则从资深HR的角度强调了LinkedIn在求职中强大的功能，鼓励学生要灵活使用LinkedIn提供的资源。她同时为听众推荐了Toastmasters workshop，该workshop可以极大的提高个人公共演讲的能力，为求职和今后的职业发展大大加分。Lucy女士表示，了解你所求职的公司并投入热情是非常重要的。她也从自己的职业经历总结出，一位优秀的领导要能够和员工做朋友。
在互动问答环节，听众不断向三位嘉宾提出各种和求职相关的问题。有一位听众提出，由于缺乏相关的人脉和社会资源，他没有办法向心怡的大公司递交简历，十分困扰。对此，嘉宾提出了两个视角独到又切实可行的方案： 其一，尽量去结识可能认识就职于该公司的人；其二，当你找不到接触公司的途经时，想办法让公司主动注意到你。例如，通过社交平台和社会媒体展示个人营销方案，并主动@该公司。也有听众提出，在求职中发现个人条件与公司要求有一些差距，不知道应不应该继续投简历。嘉宾给出了肯定的答案，并说明公司不一定会找到完全符合职位需求和学历要求的人。对求职者来说递一份简历对自己没有任何不利，反而多了个可能性。此外，与转专业、简历撰写、工程师求职、销售求职等相关问题也不断被提出，现场气氛十分热烈。

嘉宾简介：
Clark Chen
General Manager of Smart Devices Sales Dept. at Coolpad Group. He is professional in Sales, Branding and Marketing, Project Management and B2C. Mr Chen worked for 6 years at Coolpad Group (2 years in China and 4 years globally in Latin America, Europe, Africa, Southeast Asian, United States for over 30 countries).
Connie Wedel
Connie Wedel is a global HR executive, leadership/career coach, equalitarian, CQ facilitator, writer, speaker, and mom. She currently serves as Vice President of Human Resources at The Argen Corporation in San Diego. She has 25 years of business and HR experience. Her teams are responsible for attracting, hiring, developing, and retaining great employees while building an inclusive and thriving work culture.
Connie’s professional background also includes working with diverse businesses, leadership, and employees across six continents. Her educational background includes earning a BS from the University of Iowa followed by an Executive Masters in HR Management from Cornell University. She maintains professional certifications such as SPHR, GPHR, SHRM-SCP, Cultural Intelligence (CQ), Coaching-Centered Enterprise (CCE), and Emotional Intelligence (EQ) facilitator. Connie is a UCSD Extension instructor and presents for various associations around the country such as San Diego State University, Women’s Bureau (DOL), National Diversity Council, and American Association of University Women, (AAUW).
